Hydrosols: how to choose and use them.
A bottle, a plant, a few sprays. A hydrosol can find its place in a very short routine, provided you know why you are choosing it and when to use it. Here are some useful guidelines.
01
Water derived from distillation
A hydrosol is the aromatic water collected during the steam distillation of a plant. It is neither an infusion nor a diluted essential oil. Its texture is that of water; its scent is that of the distilled plant, with nuances that are sometimes different from the fresh plant.
The term "floral water" is often used. It describes water distilled from flowers; "hydrosol" also covers waters distilled from leaves, such as sage or verbena.

02
Choosing based on the desired effect
Start with a specific expectation. A mist for skin comfort, a refreshing gesture, or special attention to the eye area: a single hydrosol can be enough.
- Chamomile
- For skin in need of softness and comfort.
- Verbena
- To wake up a dull-looking complexion with a lemony-scented mist.
- Cornflower
- For a refreshing gesture around the eyes: on cotton pads placed over closed eyelids.
- Sage
- For combination to oily skin and areas prone to shine.
- Peppermint
- For a cooling sensation and the care of combination to oily skin.
- Nettle
- For a botanical treatment on the face or scalp.
03
The right time in your routine
After cleansing, spray onto your face while closing your eyes, or apply with clean hands. Gently pat, then follow with your usual skincare. The hydrosol complements the routine; it replaces neither cleansing nor a cream when the skin needs hydration.
You can also use it during the day to feel refreshed. For cornflower around the eyes, prefer lightly soaked cotton pads and keep your eyelids closed. Avoid any direct spraying into the eyes.

A few tips for the next steps
Should you layer several?
It is not necessary. Choose the one that best suits your current needs and observe your skin's comfort.
Can you mix a hydrosol with clay?
Yes, it can be used to prepare a mask from clay powder. Add it gradually to obtain a supple paste. Only prepare the quantity needed for the application.
How to store it?
Keep the bottle tightly closed, away from heat and light, and follow the storage instructions on the label. Do not touch the spray nozzle with your fingers.
